Elijia was born in Midland, Texas but raised in Nebraska. She raised four children. She was very innovative and could look at an ordinary item and create something beautiful. She was a seamstress and could construct something without a pattern. She didn't have much money, however her children never went without. Elijia attended Houston Community College in the early 1970’s and received a certificate in refrigeration in small appliances. She worked as a caretaker for Sheltering Arms, a Bus Aide for Humble ISD and retired to take care of her own mother until she passed away. She did all she could to help anyone in need, she never met a stranger. She was a simple lady that didn't want much but gave much more to her children family and friends. She had a green thumb and loved her garden and roses and was a wonderful cook.
She is survived by her children, Oscar Flores, Sr., Rhonda A. Gamboa (David A. Gamboa), Jessica F. Valdez (Raymond Valdez), Michelle F. Campos (Jose Campos); grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, Maria, Elias, David Ryan, David Anthony, David Lee, Taylor, Alec, and Sumiko; three great-grandchildren, Kai, Andrés and Amira; Sisters, Elidia Sandoval, Carmen Holguin.
