Betty was born in Houston on the 29th of October 1928. She attended Lamar High School and Rice University where she met and married Bo, the love of her life. Betty was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend. She loved golf, dancing, bridge and being around her friends and family. Despite being confined to a wheelchair for the last 30 years, Betty remained extremely active with her regular card games, going on any outing offered and getting together with her family for every holiday or special occasion.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Forum at Memorial Woods, especially Madeline Goldsmith, for the love and thoughtful care Betty received over the past 12 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bolling Abercrombie and her parents, Jim and Ruby Cheatham. She is survived by her brother, Jim Cheatham; son and daughter-in-law Andy and Pama Abercrombie; son Tony Abercrombie; daughter and son-in-law Ann and Kenneth French. Her grandchildren, Rachel and Jack Weir; Pama, Drew and Burke Abercrombie; Beau and Blake French; and great-grandson Colton Hess, will also miss her deeply.
At a later date, the family will gather for a private memorial service.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions, in Betty’s honor, may be directed to Gladney Center for Adoption, Attn: Development Office, 6300 John Ryans Dr., Fort Worth, TX, 76132. (www.gladneycommunity.com)
