Elizabeth Ann Davis Germany passed peacefully on May 31, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with dementia and heart disease. We rest assured that Elizabeth is free from pain and in the presence of her Savior. May her memory be eternal.
Born on January 17, 1937, in Hondo, TX, to Florence and Charlie Davis. As a child, Elizabeth loved to be outdoors. She loved to plant seeds to nurture and grow her own food, which continued for most of her life. She loved to dance as she grew up and was very accomplished in music, playing the guitar and trombone. Those accomplishments led her to be a member of the University of Texas Longhorn Band as a twirler and trombonist. She graduated from the University of Texas in 1959 with a degree in interior design. After her graduation, she moved to join her sister and brother-in-law in Denver, where she worked in a children’s hospital. From Denver, she moved to Germany, where she earned her pilot's license, worked as a tour guide, and met Peter Williamson, who blessed her with her daughter, Shelley. The three returned to Seattle, where Elizabeth worked as a dispatcher for Seattle PD. While Shelley was young, Peter and Elizabeth divorced. She moved with Shelley back to Texas, where she married Bill Germany. They lived in many places along the Texas coast, including on a 35-foot sailboat! After moving ashore, Elizabeth and Bill welcomed their son, Robert (Bob) Joseph. After Elizabeth and Bill divorced, Elizabeth and Shelley moved to Houston. Elizabeth began working in the engineering field, where she worked with a variety of companies in the petroleum industry. She worked on many projects both domestically and internationally. While in Houston, she partnered with Yasser Bagersh to found Express Theater, sang in the church choir, trained for and ran many marathons, and was a devoted member of many museums! Elizabeth had a lifelong love of travel and culture. She facilitated many road trips and travels with both of her children, including a legendary graduation trip with Bob and his best friend, Gassan Bagersh, and a trip to Europe with Shelley, Andrew, and Bob. Ethiopia held a special place in her heart because of the Bagersh family and the wonderful coffee, which she always brought home and was never without. While traveling there, she wrote and published a book entitled Ethiopia, My Home (The Story of John Moraitis). While Bob was completing his PhD at the University of Chicago, Elizabeth moved to be with his growing family. While Bob was pursuing his education, Elizabeth accompanied the family on many adventures, including research projects in Greece, Ethiopia, and the UK.
Elizabeth was a devoted Gram to her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She always showed up to support them in their achievements and could always be counted on for a great weekend sleepover.
Elizabeth was a lifelong learner, always reading and gaining new skills. Later in life, she obtained her massage therapy license, a gift which delighted her family as well!
As a part of that love for knowledge, Elizabeth was affiliated with many charitable and historical associations, including The Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the Haverford College Arboretum Association. Her faith was a constant in her life, and she was an active member of St. Joseph Orthodox Church in Houston. What a life, what an amazing woman.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Charlie Davis; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Jane and Ralph Brigance; and her son, Robert Joseph Germany.
Elizabeth is survived by daughter Shelley Germany Thomas and her husband Andrew, her grandchildren Hannah Elizabeth Thomas, Luke Alan Thomas, his wife Brianna, and their son Clyde, and Levi John Thomas; Daughter-in-Law Dianna Germany, her grandchildren Elizabeth Grace Germany Sargeant, her husband Ellis, and their son Joseph Roland, Ada Josephine Germany Lengkeek, her husband Christian, and daughter Nina Elizabeth, Elias William Germany, and John Cassian Germany; and cousins, James Bendele and Beatrice Bendele Peterson.
