

The soul of Elizabeth M. “Betty” James departed on Friday, the 26th of October 2012. She was born Elizabeth Mary Munn on the 10th of April 1935, in Ocean Falls, British Columbia, Canada. Betty was the daughter of the late Edward "Ted" Munn and Marthe "Peggy" Boichat-Munn. Her husband was the late Judge Jimmy James. She was predeceased by her youngest son, David James. She is survived by her step-mother, Ruth Munn; two sons, Scott and Mark James; her brother, Albert Munn; and her sister-in-law, May Mansoor-Munn.
Betty cared deeply for her family, friends, and the various communities she interacted with. After graduating from The University of Houston she practiced as a medical technologist with Saint Joseph's Hospital. She was an active member of the AAUW (American Association of University Women). Betty played an active role with her faith community Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Close to her heart was her interfaith bible study group. She also was a volunteer key-punch operator for MAM (Memorial assistance Ministries), an inter-faith group that helps the poor. An avid reader she took part in a book club and a women's investment club. She also enjoyed trips and playing bridge with some of her old friends.
A funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 30th of October, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 15015 Memorial Drive in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced at the service.
Afterwards, the interment is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston.
