Elizabeth Valorie Parker Scheumack, 95, passed away on August 14, 2022. She was born May 29, 1927 in Hope, Arkansas to Jefferson Aubrey and Corlemae May Parker. She grew up in Douglasville, Texas and attended high school in Atlanta and graduated from University of Texas with a degree in education. She was preceded in death by her husband, Powell Allen Scheumack, whom she met when she went to Victoria, Texas after graduating from college to teach school. They were married 62 years.
Elizabeth enjoyed teaching third grade at Bunker Hill Elementary school for over twenty years. After her retirement she enjoyed being a homemaker and getting involved in her neighborhood activities. She was a wonderful cook, excellent bridge player, beautiful seamstress, enthusiastic traveler, and avid gardener. Above all, family was the most important thing to Elizabeth. She loved cooking and hosting family gatherings.
Elizabeth is survived by her three children: Susan Scheumack Roberds and husband Bill of Dallas, Jeffrey Allen Scheumack and wife Kathy of Yantis, Texas, and Sarah Scheumack Giles of Houston; four grandchildren, Kyle Scheumack, Courtney Giles Borowick, Griffin Scheumack, and Valerie Giles Roque; three great grandchildren, Jack and Jay Scheumack and Blaire Borowick; and many nieces, nephew, and beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
A memorial service for Elizabeth will be held Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas.
