Ellen attended Buffalo State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Human Development with a focus on Family Relationships in 1969. She began her career as a flight attendant and enjoyed her career tremendously because it gave her opportunities to travel in the US and abroad. In 1977, a medical condition brought her to Houston, Texas, where many of her extended family members lived.
Ellen worked as an accountant for different real estate development companies before she landed her dream position with Hines Real Estate Global Development Company. She was known for her dedication, hard work, project detail, precision, and reliability. Beyond her career, she had a true gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome. Whether among family, friends, or new acquaintances, Ellen created an environment where people felt comfortable and valued.
On June 12, 2004, Ellen married Thomas Cooper. Their marriage was marked by companionship, mutual respect, and shared life experiences. They particularly enjoyed entertaining at their beloved lake house. Ellen loved their road trips together, always ready for a new adventure. She also loved her tropical plants and flower garden. She enjoyed cooking and was always looking at new recipes to try out, much to the delight of her guests.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lorenz Wopperer and Lydia Alma (Wagner) Wopperer. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Cooper, as well as numerous family members and lifelong friends, all of whom will remember her warmth and kindness.
