
Elver D.C. Cox departed this life July 18, 2012. D.C. was born March 6, 1924 in Jewett, Texas. He served in the U. S. Army and was assigned to the 737th Railway Operations Battalion in Luzon Island Philippines as a telegraph operator. He was honorably discharged in December, 1945.
D.C. worked for Texaco for many years. He took early retirement from Texaco to begin helping Dorothy in the family businesses, Hobby Hut and Southwest Rentals. They owned the Hobby Hut for 33 years. They loved those years together serving their customers.
D.C. is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy, three children, Tim Cox, Gayle Smith, and Tammy Ganze, four grandchildren Clayton Smith, Amy Butler, Amanda Phillips and Abby Ganze and four great grandchildren.
Thanks to the special care associates at Hampton and Houston Hospice and his good buddy Norman for their kindness and compassion during the last year of his life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Houston National Cemetery with inurnment to follow.
