On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, Emede Garcia Carrasco, a.k.a. Sam, went to be with Jesus peacefully in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. He was born in the small town of Premont, Texas in 1942 to Estanislao and Carolina Carrasco and lived to be 81 years old.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who worked hard, loved God, his family, and friends.
Emede grew up and matured quickly since he was one of the eldest of 10 siblings. He left school in the eighth grade to work and help his mom make ends meet. Despite the adversity, he continued to work hard, met and married the love of his life, grew his family and settled in Houston, Texas where he resided for more than 25 years. Emede and his wife raised four children. Then they moved to Hempstead, Texas in 1998 to escape the fast-paced city life and fulfill their dream of moving to the country to live in what he called their “little house on the prairie” for the next 20+ years of their life.
Emede’s greatest joys and accomplishments were being a family man and proud husband to his wife.
Emede retired in 2003 from Sepco/DXP Enterprises after 20 years of service as a delivery driver. During his retirement he enjoyed going to casinos, visiting family, spending time outdoors in the peaceful countryside, and perfecting his love for woodwork. He claimed each piece as an “original” and would often gift his woodwork to family and friends, as a token of his love for Christ.
He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Enriqueta Garcia Carrasco; children, Emede Eduardo Carrasco and wife, Rhonda; Deborah Ann Watson and husband, Johnny; Estanislao Noe Carrasco and wife, Lisa; and Liza Carrasco Rivera and husband, Adrian; grandchildren, Joseph Flores, Michael Flores and wife, Saida; Toni Alyss Carrasco; Mark Edward Carrasco and wife, Kelly; Mea Meshell Carrasco; Johnny Carrasco Watson, Zachary Carrasco Watson; Jake Carrasco Watson, Ivan James Carrasco, Grant Noe Carrasco, Meredith Renee Carrasco, Adrienne Elizabeth Rivera, Lola Marie Rivera and Ava Carolina Rivera; great-grandchildren, Lelani Flores, Isaiah Flores, Veronica June Carrasco, Noah Carrasco and Uriah Carrasco; along with brothers, Orence Carrasco and Israel Carrasco; sisters, Esperanza Elizarraraz, Gloria Ezzo and husband, Al; Lucila Perez and husband, Humberto and Sylvia Madrid and husband, David along with numerous other family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents Estanislao and Carolina Carrasco; his brothers, Crecencio Carrasco, Herberto Carrasco and Carlos Carrasco and with sisters-in-law, Elena Carrasco, and Josefina Carrasco; brother-in-law, Paul Elizarraraz, daughter -in-law Veronica Flores.
