Emily Sue Howard Mauldin of Houston, Texas, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in the nurturing environment of an assisted living home in Dallas, TX. She was born on February 27, 1926 in Sharp County Arkansas in a wooden home on the family farm as daughter of Holly Jackson Howard and Aurora Magnolia Christenberry Howard. She did grow up with three sisters and four brothers. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hulon Morgan Mauldin, and siblings: Chloe Howard, Allie Jean Howard Flickner, Amy Marie Howard Wallis, Taylor Horace Howard, Janet Howard Guthrie, Harry Howard, Sanford Howard and Joseph Miller Howard. Surviving family members : Daughter, Sharon M. Hill and husband, Windle; Son, Lonney T. Alldredge and wife, Debra. Grandchildren: Kristin Hill Auito and husband, William and Ron Hill. In Tribute: Emily Sue later lived in a new rock home on the Arkansas farm and she always had many stories to share about the times she and all her siblings had both working and playing on the land. The family picked and sold cotton, and gathered and sold fresh eggs, milk and watermelons. Her family lived through many hardships and shared many joys. As an adult she moved to Houston, Texas and met and married her husband, Hulon Mauldin. She was also a Mother and working at Sears and then Borden’s Ice Cream in accounting departments. Emily Sue always enjoyed her family reunions. Her other joys were watching the Lawrence Welk Show, listening to Perry Como records, watching and re-watching the movie “El Dorado”….she loved the male vocalist deep singing voice. She loved other Westerns featuring actors like John Wayne, too. She was handy with a sewing machine, altering items to fit her needs. Another of her passions was her Zinnias…. She still kept those farm roots in her all her life. Her senior years found her facing an Alzheimer’s journey but she passed peacefully. She was a hard working woman living a simple life dedicated to her family.
