Emmanuel Cunanan Siongco departed this life peacefully on Saturday, June 20 at the age of 80.
He was born on January 6, 1946, in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. Emmanuel grew up in a close-knit family. The values instilled in him were community, humility, hard work, joy in living, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones that guided him throughout his life.
Manny lived by his motto: “Happiness is like a tripod. The three legs must be balanced. Love what you’re doing, where you are and most importantly, who you’re with. If one leg is not balanced, your tripod will not stand steady.”
Manny was happiest while adventuring. In his younger days, he took to the open roads, eager to explore the United States. He wanted to visit as many national parks and states as he could, spanning from Illinois to Wyoming, South Dakota, California and Nevada, where he first discovered a casino. Later, he enjoyed road trips to Florida, Louisiana, and ultimately Texas.
Making lifelong friendships in bowling clubs and mahjong game nights, Manny also found his love for golf, though the game did not particularly love him back. Still, he would proudly claim his PGA membership as a great accomplishment. The Philippine Golf Association welcomed him with encouragement.
Manny was the beloved husband of Clarita, his equal, best friend, and greatest love. Together, they built a life filled with sacrifice, perseverance, and countless cherished memories. Through every challenge and success, their love remained a constant source of strength and dedication to those around them.
He was a proud father to Emil and Carrie Elaine, whom he loved beyond measure. He worked hard to provide opportunities for his children, teaching them the importance of education, respect, and compassion. Nothing brought him greater joy than becoming a grandfather. His two granddaughters, Cadence Michelle and Stella Corinne, were the light of his life. He delighted in every milestone, every story, every visit, and every cuddle. He was their "manny." To his granddaughters, he was more than a grandfather—he was a source of unconditional love and warmth.
Those who knew him will remember Manny’s kind heart, quiet strength, and generous spirit. He had a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for, whether through a home-cooked Filipino meal, a thoughtful conversation, or a simple act of kindness. His smile always met his eyes.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the values he passed on to those who loved him. The motto he lived by, the sacrifices he made, and the love he shared will continue to guide and inspire us.
He is survived by his loving wife, Clarita O. Siongco; his children, Emil Siongco and C. Elaine Tubre; his beloved granddaughters, Cadence M. Tubre and Stella C. Tubre; his sisters, Eloisa and Abelardo Vila, Edna Syquia, and Elfrida Siongco; his brother Ernesto and Marietta Siongco, friends, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
While we mourn his passing, we celebrate a remarkable life filled with faith, love, devotion, and dignity. He leaves behind a family that will carry his memory in their hearts forever. Eternal rest grant unto Emmanuel, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
