Emmie Lukish

Emmie Lukish passed away Saturday, May 01, 2021. She was a native Houstonian who graduated from Lamar High School. She made life-long friends in school who became more family than friends. As a teen, she enjoyed synchronized swimming and was a member of the Shamrock Hilton Hotel Corkettes: an AAU competitive team as well as an entertaining group. She traveled to most of the 50 states in the US; and after touring Italy, always hoped to travel extensively abroad.

Emmie was a devoted mother who thoroughly enjoyed raising her son and attending his many sporting events. She carried that enthusiasm to her grandchildren and extended family, filling her time with her loved ones. She was selfless and thoughtful with an award-winning sense of humor.

She was passionate about her career and enjoyed working. So much so, that she only recently retired in October of 2020. She volunteered regularly for Camp Hope, an organization that brings hope and healing to Veterans suffering with PTSD.

Emmie is survived by her son, Gabe, his wife Alicia, her 3 grandchildren: Berkley, Jacob, and Savannah, and her former daughter-in-law Kerri. Her sister Pat James and husband Fred James, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by Her father E.L. Hitt, Mother Pauline Hitt, her brothers; John Hitt and C.W. Roberts, and sister Shirley Bennett.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079. The funeral home website has links for live streaming the service, donations in lieu of flowers, condolences, and sharing memories.
