

Ena’s love of family leaves a legacy that will keep her spirit alive for all those who knew and loved her. Dr. Ena E. Mocega, passed away on Monday, the 16th of March 2026. She was born in Placetas, Las Villas, Cuba on the 25th of March 1935. She was one of nine brothers and sisters who understood that families are like branches on a tree, while they grow in different directions, their roots remain as one.
Ena went to medical school in Cuba Instituto Superior De Ciencias Medicas De La Habana, Havana, Cuba Institute of Superior Medical Science of Havana. She immigrated to the United States and completed her residency at U Tx-M D Anderson Cancer Center, Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Cook County Hospital, Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. In 1992, she and her business partner founded their own practice Mocega, Askew and Associates, where she practiced until her retirement.
Ena was preceded in death by her parents, Elena Gonzalez and Belen Mocega; her brothers, Alberto, H. Belen, and Juan Antonio Mocega; her sisters, Dr. Esther Mocega-Gonzalez, and Dr Elena Mocega Gonzalez; and nephew, Carlos Alberto Mocega. She is survived by her sisters, Emma Mocega Prado, Elsa Mocega, Esther Mocega Kempen (husband Dr. Rene Kempen) and her sister in-law Mireya Mocega. In addition, she is survived by three nieces, Lidia Elvira Medina, Teresa Alvarez and Dr. Esther Caroline Kempen; and four nephews, Julio Armando Mocega, Dr. Juan Antonio Mocega, Jorge Mocega and Dr. Alejandro Mocega.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o’clock in the afternoon until six o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 25th of March, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the Recitation of the Holy Rosary will commence at half past five o'clock in the Jasek Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be conducted at half past ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 26th of March, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive in Houston.
The Rite of Committal will immediately follow, via escorted cortège, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
