
Era Lois Hayes passed away on January 23, 2019 in Houston, Texas. She was born on July 1, 1948 in Carthage Texas, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee H. Anderson. She was pre-deceased by her longtime sweetheart husband, Billy J. Hayes Sr, who she met in elementary school. They were married for 47 years and have a son together Billy J. Hayes Jr. Her husband Billy was Era’s favorite person to be with and talk about. After his death she said he was the best thing that ever happened to her and she missed him dearly. Era graduated from Turner High School in 1966, she was the Turner High School Queen and débutante, played the clarinet for the band and participated in several school clubs. She attended Texas Southern and has several degrees. She was a teacher by profession and also worked for years with children and adults with special needs. Era was also a gifted artist, singer and pianist. She sang and played the piano for her church and many other events. She was a very classy and sophisticated lady, who enjoyed Opera, classical and Jazz music. She loved to have fun and enjoyed telling stories about her siblings who she loved very much. She also loved her grandchildren deeply and enjoyed playing the piano for them. She is survived by her son Billy J. Hayes Jr., daughter-in-law Tana D Hayes and grandchildren Billy J. Hayes III and Melonnie M. Hayes.
