Erin Lynn Burwell LaGrone was born on December 17, 1941 and left this world to be with the Lord on December 13th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Rigdon LaGrone. Their marriage of 40 years produced a beautiful picture of deep mutual devotion.
Lynn was survived by her brother and devoted companion, Charles Wm. Burwell III.
She was within 4 days of her 80th birthday when she died.
Bible Way Baptist Church in Houston was Lynn's spiritual home where she faithfully worshiped with the leadership of minister, Robert L. Dunn. Her faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ was a dominant factor throughout her life and her concern for the salvation of others permeated every relationship she encountered.
In Lynn's professional life, she was steadily employed as secretary to upper level financial managers in Houston. She worked several years in the Chemical Engineering Dept of Rice University and financial companies in the Post Oak City area. Soon after marrying Patrick, they became self employed. Later in life they moved to Jamaica and operated a charter fishing venture which they described as a dream come true.
Lynn was an avid reader of contemporary novels as well as Biblical eschatology; She loved her crossword puzzles and pet kitties and did not resist when asked to support important socio-political causes she believed in. Lynn liked going barefoot. Lynn loved the Lord and her country which God has so richly blessed.
If Lynn could have spoken a brief word of hope at her own funeral, I'm fairly certain that it would have been: 'We face an adversary in the earth, who is victorious over our efforts to remain good and alive in the flesh. The body fails but our souls are not so easily conquered'. This would be her wish for everyone who hears: 'Embrace the free gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ; His blood has redemptive power!' Lynn will be remembered for her intelligence, kindness and her sweet nature. The essence of her wish for mankind though, is that each one would trust in the Lord to the saving of their souls. The love she shared with her brother Charles, after Patrick passed on, was a special time in their lives filled with total devotion.
Good-bye for now, sweet Lynn. Pray we stand tall and follow you into The Kingdom.
A graveside services for Erin will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
