The husband of Nicolasa B. Mireles, the two of them were married 42 years and were together for 52 years.
Born in Houston, Texas, Ernest was the son of Sebastian and Maria Mireles. Growing up in Houston, he saw the city grow through the decades. Ernest worked in Alaska near Anchorage in the 1950’s and often spoke fondly of those memories. He was happily self-employed for the last 37 years of his life as the best dumptruck driver.
Ernest was a member of The Metropolitan Baptist Church for almost 15 years and was a member of the Catholic church prior to those years. He enjoyed staying busy with mechanics, driving, but above all spending time visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed being at home and spending quality time with family, going out to eat–he enjoyed seafood most of all–and listening to his favorite music live. A man of his word, both honorable and respected by many, he will be remembered most for his love for his family, his unparalleled generosity, his boyishly kind smile and the wonderful storyteller he was.
He is survived by his wife, Nicolasa B. Mireles, his children Jose S. Mireles and wife Rhonda, Luis Mireles and wife Yadira, Ray Mireles and wife Ana, Richard Mireles and wife Vera, David Mireles and wife Sylvia, Robert Mireles and wife Brandee, Fredrick Mireles and wife Diana, Ernest Mireles and wife Marie & Laura Mireles. He is also survived by his sisters Gloria Guerrero and Blanche Mirelez. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by daughter Yolanda Mireles.
The family would like to acknowledge Rev. Frank Becerra and Brother Ronny Franken for their spiritual support during these times.
