Ernest Edward Perez

Ernest Edward Perez, age 70, of Houston, Texas gained his wings on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 9, 1952 to parents Monses and Sofia Perez. He graduated from MacArthur Sr. High School and a few years down the road went on to marry the love of his life Rosalinda (Rose) Perez on April 21, 1989. Ernest had a career as a truck driver for Contra Mar and World Trade just to name a couple. In 1995, he and his wife founded E&R Perez Trucking Co., which he owned and operated until he retired in 2018. Ernest had a passion for gardening growing his own vegetable garden while also tending to his wife’s flowers, flowerbeds and roses. His other love was cooking and hosting BBQ’s for family and friends. He was a great storyteller always entertaining us and especially his grandchildren with tales of his youth. You could always find him in his game room jamming to music and a cold drink in his hand.

He is preceded in death by his parents Monses and Sofia Perez; daughter Kerri Lynn Perez-Hedspeth; brother Moses M. Perez Jr.; grandson Joshua Ruiz; daughter-in-law Lilly Ruiz; sister-in-law Emily Perez.

Ernest is survived by his beloved wife Rose; sons Johnny Ruiz (Cici), Kevin Perez (Diana), Martin Ruiz, David Ruiz, 21 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother John Perez; sister Sylvia Curtis.

A visitation for Ernest will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A rosary service will occur Friday, December 2, 2022. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Brookside Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Ruiz, Martin Ruiz, David Ruiz, Alberto Castillo, Kevin Perez Jr., Matthew Perez, Blake Ortega, Arty Castillo.
