Ernie was a graduate of Makabulos Memorial High School in Victoria, Tarlac, Philippines. He lived his life in the Philippines until he immigrated to the United States in 1980 where he first lived in Flushing, New York and afterwards moved to Houston, Texas. He held a successful career as a Building Engineer at M.D. Anderson Hospital for many years and retired from this job.
He enjoyed fixing and completing small project improvements around the house during his off time. Ernie spent a lot of time traveling on long drives to many U.S. States visiting relatives while on vacation. He was also fond of playing with his grandchildren and loved to cook his famous specialty soup on numerous family gatherings and holiday get-togethers. He lived a simple and very content life.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Maniego and sons: Harry, Henry, Ernesto Jr., Hernan and Ernest; daughters: Marisor, Eileen, and Marilou; grandchildren: Adriel, Derrick, Darryl, Rylen, Edzel, Aedrick, Jeremy, Julian, Alex, Kyle, Victor, John Anthony, Westley, Hanna, Leah, Abby, Ailani, Khyla, and Nicole; sisters: Virginia and Sally. He is predeceased by his daughter, Marites Maniego Laxamana.
Visitation for Ernie will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home: 13747 Eastex Fwy Houston, Texas 77039.
A memorial service will occur on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Saint Martha Catholic Church: 4301 Woodridge Pkwy Porter, Texas 77365.
