Mama Ethel,

I’m still in disbelief that you are no longer here with us. You were a woman of love, grace, beauty, and truly a woman of God. I will forever thank you for treating me as one of your own. You were the best mother-in-law I could have ever asked for in this life. I thank God for your elder spiritual guide when I needed it the most. I always felt loved in your presence. Your kindness has inspired me in more ways than I can think of, and I am forever grateful. Thank you for giving me a replica of you in my husband.  He is a legacy of your unconditional love and caring ways, and I am so fortunate to be a recipient of that love. Mama Ethel, rest easy. I love you; I miss you, and I will forever salute you.  You will be forever in my heart.

Mom, 
Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a child’s heart can know. I think of you with so much love each day. I truly never learned what, “I miss you” meant until the day I wanted to hear your voice and you wasn’t there. The day you left us, placed a void in our hearts. I know now why you always told me to stay strong. You knew that one day, I would need the strength to bear your loss. Words cannot describe the sadness this brings to not only me, but to my siblings and your entire flock. Mom, we miss you dearly. You always saw the best in us and encouraged us to keep God first in our lives. You inspired us when we were down, correct us when we were wrong, and loved us unconditionally. Although, you are from sight, you left us a gold mine of so many beautiful memories in which we can laugh or talk about or even play in our mind. Mom, you were a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.  God gave us the best of his pickings and I thank him for allowing us to have had you for 90 plus years. Mom, your love will continue to be our guide. Although, unseen and unheard, we know that you will always be at our side. You will forever be in our hearts.
