

Eugene "Sparky" graduated from University of Houston Downtown receiving his Criminal Justice Degree as a Peace Officer. He met the love of his life, Nola Doyle, in Houston, Texas. They were wedded, May 15, 1967 and were sealed for All Time and Eternity on August 11, 1976.
Sparky worked as a Computer Specialist at IBM, and later retired after 12 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had a passion for genealogy and had a great love for serving Christ and others by working in the Houston LDS Temple since the opening in 2000. Before that, he worked many years in the Dallas LDS Temple. He volunteered at the Church Cannery for many years, as well as The Bishop Storehouse helping many needy families. He served a Mission for the LDS Distribution Center for 2 years in Houston, Texas. Sparky and Nola were called as The Genealogy Experts for many years, teaching others how to find their ancestors.
Sparky is being welcomed home by his parents, Eugene and Bertha Sparkman; son, Eugene Sparkman III (Amy); his siblings, Gloria Sifuentes, Jackie Sparkman, Jerry White and Kenneth White. Also, welcoming him home are his in-laws, Harmon and Lucy Doyle, Johnny Michael and Carla Doyle and nephew, Sean Malley.
Those left to cherish his precious memories is his baby, Nola Sparkman, children, Mayla Zubik, Clara Sparkman (David Duncan), Deborah Sparkman (Duce), Lela and Mark Blackmore; grandchildren, Michael Sparkman, Christopher Sparkman, Ashtyn Pruneda, Emily Pruneda, Jonah Knight, Charlie Knight, Casey Duce, Natalie Duce, Jillian Duce, and Logan Blackmore; brother, Roger Sparkman. Also left to cherish his memories are many nieces, nephews, cousins with extended family and friends.
Serving as Pallbearers are Michael Sparkman, Christopher Sparkman, Jonah Duce, Charlie Duce, Tommy Doyle, Kevin Malley, Jonathan Malley, Mark Blackmore, Mike Sanchez.
A viewing will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 at 10:00am with the Graveside Service to follow at 11:00am. Light refreshments will be available in the reception room from 11:30am to 1:30pm for anyone who wishes to gather in comfort.
