Sue was born March 1, 1927 to William and Era Derrick in El Paso, TX. Where she graduated high school and met and married Fred O. Gage on November 22, 1946. They started their family in El Paso and later moved to Dallas finally moving to Houston in the 60’s. Sue worked as a church secretary at Tallowood Baptist Church and later at Uncle Ben’s before retiring. She regularly attended Spring Branch Community Church and then Bridgepoint Church enjoying travel with friends from church.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred, and daughter Susan Dowd. Sister Janie Millican, brothers Kenneth Derrick and Billy Derrick. She leaves behind daughter Mary Agnich and husband Jim of Houston, son Fred Gage and wife Coreen of Middletown MD, son Gregory Gage and wife Beth of Rockville MD. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Brian Bethscheider (Becky), Olivia Kirklin (John), Tracy Bethscheider, DeWayne Henderson, Eric Bethscheider, Sarah Knotts (Andrew), Douglas Gage (Shea), Garrett Gage, Brendan Gage, Julie Gage, and Aiden Gage, great grandchildren; Gabriel, Genevieve, Thomas and Gage as well as great great grandchild Skarlett. And a host of other cousins, nephews, nieces, family and friends.
A visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday October 13, 2023 in the chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home 13001 Katy Fwy Houston, TX 77079.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday October 14, 2023 in the chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home 13001 Katy Fwy Houston, TX 77079. Followed by a graveside service and reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sue’s name to the Huntington Disease Society of America.
