Evelyn Virginia Grimes

She is survived by daughters, Gloria Hill and Gail Wagner and sons, James and Danny Blevins. Her sisters Ellen Crawford and Dorothy Brooks. Nine devoted grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to especially thank the doctors and staff of the Vitas Hospice Unit in Woodlands, TX for the kindness, care and family support.

A private memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Oh, Mother, my mother, I just want to say

How much I love you especially on this day.

I will always recall your soft, gentle touch

I hope I show my love for you just as much.

You've done so much for me and mine,

Without a hesitation, you would give your last dime.

You were always there with words to help us grow,

If anger was inside you, you never let it show.

You love all your children, one as the other,

Not more could you do for us as a mother.

You've always been there when your wisdom was needed,

A lot of your advice we just never heeded.

I guess as time goes by we soon enough learn

That mothers do know more and have to be stern

To get your children through this life

You loved us all regardless of all our gripes.

I know you had to raise us all on your own,

It's tremendous the amount of strength that you've shown.

You've gone without so that we could have,

You've helped us cry, you've helped us laugh.

You've taught us all the basics, to appreciate and respect,

We take a lot for granted and we also too neglect

The feelings of others and things they hold dear,

We never think of the hurt or the shed tear.

A mother's love and strength never ceases,

When our worlds fall apart, she pulls together the pieces.

I know our lives sometimes get in a mess and we confide

In you, not to cause distress,

But we know you will listen and we know that you care

Even if you can't help, it's just knowing you're there.

You are more than a mother in my eyes,

You've been a beautiful person, woman and wife.

I could never repay you for all that you've been,

my listener, my confidante, my mother and my friend.
