

Stephanie Faye Melancon Hearon, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on July 2, 2026, at the age of 92 in San Antonio, Texas. Faye, known by those who loved her simply as “Gammy”, was born to Theo and Minnie Melancon on April 22, 1934 in Mamou, Louisiana. She attended Mamou Elementary School and Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Coteau, Louisiana where she graduated as Salutatorian for the class of 1952. She went on to graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. While at U of H she was a member of a local sorority, Phi Delta Zeta and was a charter member of the Delta Theta chapter of Delta Zeta National sorority. She was also a member of Kappa Epsilon pharmaceutical professional sorority. She married Lee Hearon on November 30, 1963. They retired in 1991 and he preceded her in death after 29 years of marriage in January, 1993.
Faye was an active member of St. John Vianney Catholic Community for 50 years where she gave of her time and talents in numerous ways including working with Meals on Wheels for 8 years, Social Service Ministries for 12 years, Food Pantry for 10 years and Joseph’s Coat for 12 years. She was also a volunteer at Treemont Nursing Home for 22 years.
She was an avid tennis player, belonging to Houston Ladies Tennis Association, West Houston Ladies Tennis Association and the Memorial Tennis League. She served in several organization offices over the years. She was proudly ranked 3.0 by the USTA (United States Tennis Association). She continued to play tennis regularly until she was 79 years old.
Among her many passions, two stood as the most important in her heart and will live on in her spirit: her love for family and friends. She leaves behind countless family members, friends and those she considered to be both. She is survived by four children: Steven Allen Davis of Columbia City, Indiana, Matthew Wayne Davis of Columbia City, Indiana, Christopher Melancon Hearon and his wife Dayla, of Corpus Christi, Texas and Andrew Pettus Hearon, of San Antonio, Texas and her four grandchildren: Steven Michael Davis, Lucas Allen Davis, Cody Albin Davis and Christopher Melancon Hearon, Jr. She was the proud great-grandmother of Braycen Davis, Bentley Davis, Solomon Davis and Amadae Faye Davis. She is also survived by her sister, Connie Sereebutra, of New Orleans, Louisiana and her niece Paula Seale and nephews Theo Sereebutra and Charles Sereebutra.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 10:30 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church – Ars Chapel, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, Texas. A private interment will be held for family following services at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
