Faye was married to Emmitt "Bunk" Britton in February, 1938. They were blessed with three children, Lafon, David and Peggie. Sadly, Bunk passed away in July, 1944. In August of 1946, Faye married James T. Hicks who took on the role of father to her children and two more sons, Ronald and Richard, were born to the union. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at First Baptist Church of Splendora in August of 1996, where they had been members since 1972.
Faye was a smiling active member of her church. She taught a girls Sunday school class for many years and was part of the duo known as the "Tape Ministry Ladies". She and Oma Burrow took tape recordings of the Sunday sermon around to all the shut-ins that were in the area. There was as much visiting as there was leaving the message. Miss Oma knew where everyone lived and Faye would drive . . . the two of them were a great pair.
She loved to play 42 with fellow church members and also enjoyed making quilts, especially baby quilts for her grandchildren! Family was always the most important thing to her, next to her love for the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband James T. Hicks and her eldest son, David Britton, who both went to be with the Lord in 2004. She also was preceded in death by her brother Joseph and sisters Charlsey, Frances and Mary Nell. She is survived by her brother Rev. Charles Breithaupt and his wife Bonnie of Mesquite and her daughters Lafon Stanger of Splendora and Peggie Britton of Marietta, Georgia and her sons, Ronald Hicks and his wife Kathy of Humble, and Richard Hicks and his wife Debra of Cypress. She was also loved by her ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren.
Faye was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She will live on through cherished memories.
