Felipa Rubio Carrion Born on May 1, 1948, went to be with our Lord on August 2, 2023. Felipa was born in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of Maria Espinosa Rubio and Gregorio Rubio. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas; lived briefly in Miami, Florida with her husband and returned to Houston, Texas. Felipa graduated from Milby High School in 1966. After graduation Felipa went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired with 35 years’ service, she married her high school sweetheart Joseph Carrion Jr. and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. Felipa was a member of both Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she was baptized, made her sacraments and married Joseph and St. Luke’s the Evangelist Church, where she attended mass during the week.
Felipa had 3 children Stephen Carrion (Rosa), Matthew Carrion (Jessica) and Jennifer Carrion (Brandon). Felipa’s’ legacy was her family especially her grandchildren Anson Carrion, Jack Carrion, Mary Carrion, Stephanie Carrion and Tabitha Carrion. She was their biggest cheerleader attending school events, football games, band contest, soccer games and traveling all over Texas, Ohio, NYC, New Mexico, and Florida with her grandchildren, and of course babysitting. They were her pride and joy and she cherished being with them and talking about them every chance she got. Felipa leaves behind 4 sisters and 1 brother who she loved dearly, Leonor Luna (Roy), Gloria Garcia (Louis), Patsy Cano (Phillip), Theresa Cuellar (Santiago) and Gregory Rubio (Houston, TX), she also leaves behind her In-laws Edward Carrion (Misty) and David Carrion (Sandra) and her countless nieces, nephews, and godchildren as well as her many cousins, extended family and friends. Felipa had a giving spirit, volunteering with many organizations including Immaculate Heart of Mary and Queen of Peace Food Pantry. Felipa was an avid reader, collected cookie jars, quilted when she could and enjoyed shopping. Felipa also had a love for sports, cheering on the Texans and Astros. Felipa also loved to travel, she was a seasoned cruiser, and visited many places in Europe. Felipa was the happiest when she spent time with her family and friends. She enjoyed the Christmas and Easter Holidays. Felipa with little convincing, made turkey for Thanksgiving, Christmas day as well as hosted New Year’s Eve at her home for everyone. Felipa will be missed dearly, and we are proud to honor her memory and life.
