Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Jean Stark, entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, September 28, 2026. Born Flora Jean Steede to Cleo Katie Steede and James Patterson Steede on April 20th, 1934, in Friday, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Archie Ray Stark, infant daughter Kathy Rae who died shortly after birth, her mother Cleo, father James, sister Betty Cluff, brother
James Steede and son-in-law Dale Burchard.
Jean is survived by her daughters Brenda Burchard and Vickie Morrison (George Morrison), grandchildren Carol Gonzales, Chad Collins, George Morrison Jr., Joseph Morrison, Paula Garcia (Daniel Garcia), Luke Morrison (Dalila Morrison), 18 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.
Her early life was spent in Huntsville, Texas but her family later moved to the Aldine area of Houston where she grew up on a dairy farm. While playing the bass drum in the marching band for Sam Houston High School, she met and married the love of her life. They had 3 beautiful daughters and built a home centered around family, faith, hard work and love. After her youngest child started school she went to work at Gulf Printing where she became the first woman to run their printing press. She later moved into upper management and retired from there after 28 years. During those same years they built their beloved “camp” in east Texas, a place that became the setting for countless family gatherings, stories, laughter and memories that will continue to be passed down through the generations.
Above all, Jean was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful servant of the Lord. She was never shy about sharing her love for Jesus or telling others of the wonderful things He had done in her life. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about - it was part of the way she lived. Jean loved crafting, sewing, crocheting, playing games and singing gospel music, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her, but we rejoice in knowing she is in the presence of the Lord. Her life was a blessing, her faith was an example and her love will remain with her family for generations to come
