Floren was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was an OR nurse for over 30 years at Ben Taub hospital. He enjoyed time with his family, watching movies and traveling. He is loved by so many, and his humor was one of his best traits.
He didn’t say much, but when he did, he had a way with words. He loved writing poetry, and was always nominated to be the bingo caller. He was always punctual (a minimum of 3 hours at the airport before departure) and took life seriously, but also had a lot of fun.
He had a lot of hobbies through the years. He enjoyed bowling, Texas Hold ‘Em, biking, occasional baking and his most recent obsession was playing Candy Crush (he was at level 7,619!). He also loved animals and had many four legged friends he adopted (even strays in the backyard).
Floren was a simple man. He always said he was a simple man with a simple dream. He wasn’t one to express his love vocally, but through his actions, you could tell his priority was his family. He loved his wife, Marilyn and daughters, Lauren and Maureen very much. They were the source of his happiness and reason for living. He worked hard along with his wife to create a beautiful and comfortable life for his family. Floren was also a man of faith and devout Catholic. He made sure the family attended Mass together.
Floren’s humor and kindness touched many lives. As he wrote in one of his poems:
“Plenty of friends you like to meet,
Like music with a fast beat.
Now we are coming,
Let the angels start singing....”
Floren is now home with the Lord and will be remembered by all.
