

Florence Eleanor Powell Gianola, 93, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014. She was born on January 21, 1921, in Kansas City, MO to Herbert A. Powell and Florence Haley Powell. Raised in Silsbee, Texas she obtained a Nursing degree from Scott & White Nursing School in Temple, TX in 1942. Until her retirement in 1984 she was employed by Memorial Hospital System (SW) as OR head nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ettore D. Gianola, and her brother, Herbert E. Powell, Houston, TX. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy C. O’Quinn, Houston, TX; son, Joseph M. Gianola and wife Patricia of Flowood, MS; grandchildren, Jennifer G. Robinson (Matt), Pearl, MS, and Joseph M. Gianola, Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS; great grandchildren, Elle G. Gianola, Joseph M. Gianola, III, Alexander E. Robinson and Ainsley P. Robinson; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday December 5, 2014, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX, with funeral service following from 12:30 to 1:30 and Interment services to follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Gianola would like to express their thanks to the caregivers and the many friends and neighbors who have given their time and help to Mrs. Gianola in the past year during her illness. The family would also like to thank the staff at Memorial Hermann Hospice (Kindred Hospital). In lieu of flowers, contributions May be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
