Mrs. Florence Jacqueline Boding- Jones was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in Charity Hospital at 9:17pm to Charles and Thelma (Lewis) Bolding Sr. Florence was the Second child of out of 11 siblings. Lillian, (Florence), Charles Jr., Shirley, Carroll, John, Isaac, Iola, Arthur, London and Thelma. She was the stepdaughter of Annie Bell Carter in which she welcomed her stepsister Willie Jean and stepbrother Joe Willie and became the big sister of Terry Bolding.
Florence accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was Baptized at an early age. She was a member of Second Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of The Late Pastor James Barnes. She was educated by the New Orleans Public School System. She was a very dedicated worker she worked at Fitzgerald’s Restaurant. In 1962 Florence, mother passed away and she helped her father take care of her younger brothers and sisters.
Florence met and marriage Claude Jones on October 29, 1966; he welcomed Lisa, Sandra and Antoinette has his own. From this union they welcome a beautiful baby girl Claudia.
In June of 1971 Florence moved to Houston, Texas and joined Canaan under the Leadership of The Late Pastor Emeritus L. V. Adams. Florence served faithfully on The Usher Board and City-Wide Ushers and The National United Church Ushers Association and was Crown Queen in 1997.
She was a member of the BTU, Kitchen Aide Committee. She worked with The Youth Puritan District Choir the Canaanaries founded by The Late Sister N.M. Moore. She was A Mentor of the Youth Drill Team Marching Crusader for Christ with Reverend Marcus Jones.
Florence was employed at Davidson Texas Door Company as a Carpenter, The Law Office of Stovall and Somyak. During this time, she also worked for Mr. & Mrs. Cranes & Lorraine Weaver and Family.
Anyone who knew Sister Jones knew she Loved the Lord, her family, church family and friends. She had a sweet and humble spirit and was always willing to help others without hesitation. She always kept a smile on her face.
In February of 2019 Pastor Benton Recognized her as A Living Legend and Presented her with The Living Legend Award. In March of 2020 her health began to fail, and she was no longer able to attend Praise and Worship Service but tune in Via Facebook.
On August 2, 2021, Florence answered when she was called upon by the Lord, joining loves ones and friends that have gone before her. She precedes in death by her parents Charles and Thelma, her husband the late Brother Jones, Daughter Lisa Michelle Bolding, Stepdaughters Carolyn Moore, Doris Price, Grandsons: Denvoris Bolding, Raymond Moore III, granddaughter Melissa Nelson, great grandson Kaiden Deion Bolding, brothers Charles and John.
Florence leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memories; three daughters: Sandra McMiller(Bobby), Antoinette Cormier(Laynell), Claudia Jones-Thompson(Frankie) and her fur-daughter Cairo Egypt. Siblings: Lillian Fobb, Iola Bolding (Donald) of Houston, Shirley Miller, Isaac Bolding of New Orleans, Carroll Bolding, Arthur Bolding (Sandra), Thelma, and Terry (Tenesica). Twelve Grandkids: Landerrick(Ashley), Keion(Alexis), DeShante( Chris), Nidia, James, Brittany Mc.(Bennie), Kupedsade, Demetrius, Brittney(Brandi), Lana(Pops), Sha’Cola, Keliah, Kylei, 32 Great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
