

Floyd Ed Gross, Sr. was born April 22, 1942, Houston, Texas to the union of the late John Ed and Mamie Louetta Gross, a Brother Cuba Gross, and Sister Gloria Gross-McGinnis preceded him in death. He received Christ at a very early age. He attended Trade and Mechanic School later after relocating to Los Angeles, California in 1966. August 19, 1966, he married Norma Jean Adams-Gross. To this Union they were blessed with two lovely children, Kathy and Floyd, Jr.
Floyd and Norma both united with Greater New Zion Baptist Church, Los Angeles, California, under the leadership of the late Rev. Thomas P. Moss. He served as Superintendent of Sunday School, Adult Sunday School Teacher, President of Sr. Choir and Coach for Softball Ministry.
He began working at RTD/Metro in 1966. Floyd worked until he retired from RTD/Metro (24 years), retired in 1990. After relocating back to Houston, Floyd united with Bishop James W.E. Dixon, II and The Community Of Faith, Houston, Texas. Bro. Floyd Gross was a faithful and dedicated servant. He was ordained as a Deacon on March 8, 1998. Deacon Floyd Gross loved his pastor and serving the people of God for over 30 years. He was a tither and generous giver. Deacon Gross also served as Sunday School Teacher, Congregational Care Team Member, King’s Men Ministry, King’s Men Choir, Leader of Prison Ministry, and a Cell Leader.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memory a beloved and devoted wife of 53 years: Norma Jean Gross, One Daughter: Kathy Denise Gross-Bufford (Bruce Bufford); One Son: Floyd Ed Gross, Jr. (Kecia Gross); and One God-Daughter: Lynda Michelle McNeese-Burrell; Three Sisters: Mamie Johnson, Marie Perry, Margaret Cowins; Two Brothers: John Gross (Bobbie) and Marvin Gross (Margaret). Two Grand-daughters: Ra`Vonne Mandac and Sequoia Grace Bufford; One Grand-Son: Floyd Ed Gross, III, Great Grandson: Ry`Lin McDowell, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
