Fortunata “Nena” Martinez, 82, passed away on July 11, 2026. Born in Agualeguas, Nuevo León, Nena made Houston, Texas her home for the past 50 years. The oldest of six siblings, she carried herself with a steady strength and quiet dignity, offering her care in ways that were practical, faithful, and enduring. A devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Nena’s life reflected a deep reverence for family, tradition, and the everyday blessings that make a home.

Nena found joy in simple, beautiful things like tending to her plants and especially her roses, and filling holidays with the familiar comfort of tamales made with love and patience. Above all, she cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, taking pride in the generations she helped nurture and the closeness she cultivated among those she loved.

Nena is survived by her spouse, Jesus Martinez; her children, Jose Rodriguez, Amira Salazar, Paula Rodriguez, and Aida Rodriguez; her grandchild, Viviana Salazar; and her great-grandchildren, Katherine Rodriguez, Felipe Salazar, Juliana Rodriguez, Anilu Salazar, and Angel M. Garza. She was preceded in death by her mother, Celestina Salinas; her father, Manuel Salinas; her daughter, Anilu Garza; and her brother, Honorio Salinas.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087, on July 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. A Prayer Service will take place there on July 16, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo on July 17, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Committal Service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, on July 17, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Nena will be remembered with respect and gratitude—for her steadfast presence, her devotion to faith and family, and the warmth she brought to life through the traditions she lovingly kept.

Fortunata “Nena” Martinez, de 82 años, falleció el 11 de julio de 2026. Nacida en Agualeguas, Nuevo León, Nena hizo de Houston, Texas, su hogar durante los últimos 50 años. La mayor de seis hermanos, se conducía con una fortaleza serena y una dignidad discreta, ofreciendo su cuidado de maneras prácticas, fieles y duraderas. Devota miembro de Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, la vida de Nena reflejó una profunda reverencia por la familia, la tradición y las bendiciones cotidianas que hacen de una casa un hogar.

Nena encontraba alegría en las cosas simples y hermosas como cuidar sus plantas y, especialmente, sus rosas, y llenar las fiestas con el consuelo familiar de tamales hechos con amor y paciencia. Por encima de todo, atesoraba su papel como abuela y bisabuela, sintiéndose orgullosa de las generaciones que ayudó a criar y de la cercanía que cultivó entre quienes amaba.

Le sobreviven su esposo, Jesus Martinez; sus hijos, Jose Rodriguez, Amira Salazar, Paula Rodriguez y Aida Rodriguez; su nieta, Viviana Salazar; y sus bisnietos, Katherine Rodriguez, Felipe Salazar, Juliana Rodriguez, Anilu Salazar y Angel M. Garza. Le precedieron en la muerte su madre, Celestina Salinas; su padre, Manuel Salinas; su hija, Anilu Garza; y su hermano, Honorio Salinas.

La velación se llevará a cabo en Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087, el 16 de julio de 2026, de 10:00 a. m. a 9:00 p. m. Allí mismo se realizará un Servicio de Oración el 16 de julio de 2026, de 7:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m.

El Servicio Funeral se llevará a cabo en Funeraria Del Angel Crespo el 17 de julio de 2026, de 9:00 a. m. a 10:00 a. m. Posteriormente se realizará el Servicio de Inhumación en Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, el 17 de julio de 2026, de 11:00 a. m. a 12:00 p. m.

Nena será recordada con respeto y gratitud: por su presencia constante, su devoción a la fe y a la familia, y la calidez que aportó a la vida a través de las tradiciones que conservó con amor.
