Frances Ann was born on February 6, 1939 in Houston, Texas to Michael Joseph Carbone and Josephine Katherine. She had a younger sister, Mary Grace and younger brother, Charles.
Her love of the Lord, and her special devotion to the Blessed Mother, began early in life when she attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School as a young girl. She continued her Catholic education at Incarnate Word Academy, an all girls high school in downtown Houston.
After graduating high school, Frances Ann went on to work as a data entry operator at the early stages of automation. Although she worked hard, she enjoyed spending time with her friends, listening to music, especially Elvis Presley, and going to dances. It was at one of these dances where she met John Kenneth Halbert Sr., whom would later become her husband.
During their initial meeting, Frances Ann left a lasting impression on John Kenneth. As they spent more time with one another, John Kenneth began learning more about her Catholic faith and attending Mass with her. Frances Ann helped John Kenneth on his faith journey and eventual conversion to Catholicism.
Frances Ann and John Kenneth were married on January 22, 1961. They were married for over 60 years. During their time together, they created a beautiful life and family. They had four sons, Mike, Tony, John Kenneth Jr., and Jody.
Frances Ann was a devoted mother and would often be seen at St. Theresa Catholic School volunteering as a Room Mom, at the baseball field as Team Mom, or with a disposable camera in hand ready to take the best photo of any accomplishment.
Frances Ann never had daughters of her own, but was blessed with Daughters-in-Law (Brenda, Deanna, Judy, and Vicky) who loved her like their own. They went shopping with her, talked on the phone, and visited her often.
One of Frances Ann’s most special jobs was that of “Mimi” to her nieces (Roseanne and Sophia), nephews (Tony, Philip, and Philip Anthony), grandchildren (Gina (Jonathon), Christina (Geoff), Katherine, Ashley (Zach), Stephanie (Luke), and Nick), and great grandchildren (Madelyn, Brandon, Preston, and Lincoln). During this sweet time in her life, you could find Mimi joyfully making endless amounts of cinnamon toast for her grandkids, playing the Marble Game with them and their friends, spending time chatting by the pool on a hot summer day, or attending all of their games and recitals. Family videos of her dancing around the den with the kids are some of the family's greatest treasures. She loved Sunday mornings, when her family would gather around her kitchen table to have coffee with her and talk about their week. Truly one of the happiest places on earth for Frances Ann was Disney World. She loved going with her family. Frances Ann gave her heart and babysat her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love and guidance has helped them all become the people they are today.
Frances Ann thanked God for all her blessings. She prayed rosaries for her family, friends, and the sick. She made Novenas on behalf of those who were in need, and she passed her Catholic faith onto her children and their children.
Frances Ann was preceded in death by her late husband, John Kenneth Halbert Sr. and her parents Michael Joseph Carbone and Josephine Katherine Carbone.
She is survived by her sister Mary Grace and her husband, A.J. Vance, her brother Charles Carbone, her sons and their wives, grandchildren and their husbands, and great grandchildren.
Our beloved "Mimi" was full of life, joy, and love. Although she will be greatly missed by her family, her memory will live on in their hearts.
