

Frances was born December 19, 1930 in Houston, Texas to the proud parents of Willie Vincent, Sr. and Gladys Van Ness Vincent. Frances started from an humble beginning here in Houston, Texas. She attended E. O. Smith Junior High School and later graduated at the age of sixteen (16) with honors from Phillis Wheatley Senior High School. While she was in school, she participated in the Glee Club and was a member of the National Honor Society. After graduating high school, Frances attended Texas Southern University and later completed her education from a business college. After her completion of business college, she became an employee of Houston Independent School District and worked at various schools as an attendance clerk and secretary. After 30 years of faithful service she retired from H.I.S.D. At an early age, Frances confessed to her LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST and was baptized at Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. In the year of 1969, Sister Frances Clair Vincent Henderson united with Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor C. L. Jackson and continued to be a faithful and loyal member under the leadership of Pastor Sheldon L. Jackson until her health failed. Sister Frances loved to attend the Morning Worship each and every Sunday. During her illness, she would wake up early every morning to get dressed, thinking she was going to church to worship her LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. She would cry out to the LORD everyday through her pain and suffering, saying, "Help me LORD JESUS." When Sister Frances' life was nearing an end, she found comfort in hearing her youngest daughter, Christine, sing gospel songs and recite Psalm 23. Though married and divorced during her lifetime, Frances successfully managed to raise five children, constantly focusing on being a loving and nurturing mother and consistently stressing the importance of achieving a higher level of education. Sister Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Vincent, Sr. and, Gladys Van Ness Vincent, and two brothers, James Vincent and Willie Vincent, Jr. Sister Frances leaves to cherish her life and sweet memories, five children; Beverly C. Henderson, Brenda J. Thompson, Marsha Henderson Mitchell, Vincent B. Henderson and Christine L. Williams (Eliot); four grandchildren, Nakisha S. Wilson (Gerald), Jarron Gray, Cameron Pearson and Catrell Washington; five great-grandchildren, Jasmine Gray, Vashuan Gray, Logan Gray, Bryce Wilson and Jayden Wilson; one sister, Zella Butler; two nephews Michael Vincent and Marcus Benton, II (Noreen), from San Dimas, California along with a host of other relatives and friends. Sister Frances' life will be celebrated on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 10:00am. Visitation will be prior to services beginning at 9:00am. Both services will be held at Pleasant Grove MBC, 2801 Conti St., Houston, Texas 77020. Sister Frances shall peacefully rest in the Golden Gate Cemetery.
