She retired from BakerBotts in 1995 after twenty years of service as a trusts, wills and probate secretary to Harold (always “Mr.”) Metts. She attended Oklahoma A &M college and ‘graduated’ with an Mrs. Degree in 1952.
She was married for forty-four years to Thomas E. Mace, who died much too young in 1996. They enjoyed their working careers, but they REALLY enjoyed living all over the United States (Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, Louisiana and California) traveling with their dear friends (The Sloans and The Williams), fresh water fishing, their beloved dog Arnie, drinking beer and eating peanuts.
Marilyn (never Frances), was born on April 8, 1932 and was the only child of the late Irma & Cecil J. “Jack” Mallory in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She is also preceded in death by her various aunts, uncles and cousins. She was especially close to the second “mother” Aunt Ila Mae “Fanny” Barnett of Heber Springs, Arkansas.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Mallory Mace (#1 son) and wife Eileen of Houston, Texas; David Michael Mace (#2 son) and wife Leslie of Sherman Oaks, California; and by her three beautiful granddaughters Caitie (age 28), Erin (age 25) and Emily (age 20). Marilyn was an avid supporter of the Winchester Hurricanes swim team and the Jersey Village High School Gold Dusters dance team.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Village On The Park – Steeplechase for their patience and care for the past three years. We also thank the Bristol Hospice team, especially Naeemah Redmond.
A Graveside Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
