Frances Ruth Edmundson Sheffield, passed away on December 11, 2013 at the age of 96. Ruth was born in Houston, TX. to Frank Russell and Mae Elvira Edmundson. Her family was one of the founding families of Almeda, TX. Ruth was raised in Almeda, TX. and graduated valedictorian from Almeda High School. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cecil Carlton, and brother, Bill Taylor. She is survived by brother, Frank R. Edmundson of Van Buren, AR; sons, Carlton and wife Patricia of Magnolia, TX., Kenneth and wife Chada of Mckinney, TX.; three grandchildren, Mark Sheffield, Lesley Spiehler, Kendala Sheffield; two great grandchildren, Casey Babineaux and Carly Spiehler. Ruth and Cecil were married November 24, 1937 in Houston, TX. She and Cecil were past members of Good Sams RV Club and the Lions Club. Ruth took great pride in her golfing skills, gardening, poetry writing, and crafts. She was a member of Grace Point Baptist Church. Ruth will greatly be missed.
