

Francis Michael Ardi, a man of diverse talents and passions, passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on Monday, June 10, 2024 in Houston, Texas. He left behind a rich tapestry of memories woven by his love for art, innovation, and the great outdoors.
An avid fisherman, Francis immensely enjoyed this past time. His keen eye for detail translated into exquisite hand-tied flies and meticulously crafted lures, which added to the satisfaction of his catch. Beyond fishing, his creative spirit found expression in the oil paintings he made as well as the wooden sculptures he carved.
Francis possessed a remarkable mechanical aptitude and an innovative mind. In 1971, he sketched an automobile design strikingly similar to the Toyota Prius, anticipating trends well before their time. His ingenuity extended to crafting practical solutions, such as an adjustable book holder tailored to his needs. After teaching himself Morse Code, he even built his own Morse Code key which he used to communicate via ham radio.
Rooted in his Italian heritage, Francis took great joy in cooking. His in life was marked by simplicity and devotion, regularly attending St. Cyril of Damascus Catholic Church in Houston, where he found solace and community.
Francis is survived by his brother Paul, sister-in-law Susan, nieces Daniela, Juliana, Gina, nephew Christopher, aunts Maria McDonnell and Clelia Egan, uncles George Gigliotti and James Egan, and cousins George Gigliotti Jr., Richard Gigliotti, Lisa Gigliotti, James Egan Jr., and Linda DeStefanis.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin, Texas at 10:30AM on July 8, 2024 followed by a burial in the family plot at Assumption Catholic Cemetery. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. Requiem Aeternam.
