Frank A. Devereux, 92 of Sugar Land, TX, passed away January 21, 2021. He was born in New York City, NY on July 12, 1928 to Francis and Jean Devereux. He was married to Rosaria “Sadie” Devereux for 69 years. Frank had a career in Drafting and Design at Texaco for 42 years.
As a young man, Frank served as a WW2 Farm Cadet in New York. Later he served in the Army during the Korean War. After serving his country he became a member of American Legion where he honored Veterans and fallen military by placing flags on their headstones. During Christmas he volunteered as a Santa for the VFW and visited hospitalized veterans. He enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader for his son’s troops and supported numerous charities. He had a passion for family, sports, projects, charity, cooking, shopping, and mind stimulating activities.
Frank was actively involved in his children’s lives and activities, he played sports and games with them, built go carts, repaired bicycles and cars, and supervised numerous woodshop and scout projects. He enjoyed strategy games and instructed and played chess with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed repair projects and had the patience to give his children ‘on the job training’ and always included lessons in safety. Later in life, he was known to go to his children’s and grandchildren’s homes to lend a helping hand anyway that he could.
Frank was kind to everyone he met, he was cordial and would strike up a conversation with anyone, he had a contagious smile and was quick witted. He and his wife Sadie, were dedicated Catholics. Together they were a team and they enjoyed nothing more than being with their family.
Poppa’s surviving family of six children, eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren will carry on the Devereux legacy of peace, love and respect as both their parents did.
