Frank Lopez Gonzales Sr.

Frank Gonzales Sr. age 97 of New Braunfels, Texas passed away December 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 4, 1927. Frank graduated from Beaumont High School in 1944 and received a scholarship in track and field for Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He married his love Consuelo Martinez Gonzales and together raised six children. Frank became a brick mason by trade for over 25 years in commercial construction.

His passion for serving as choir director for over 30 years at Segunda Iglesia Baptist Church in Houston. During his years at Segunda he received numerous music awards for both youth and adult choirs. He loved working with children and teaching them about Jesus. He also served as a basketball coach at Segunda.

Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years Consuelo Martinez Gonzales, daughter Deborah A. Moore, son Thomas A. Gonzales, and great grandson Christian Nelson. His parents Donato and Maria Gonzales, brothers Angel, Larry, Raymond, Oscar and sisters Emma and Rosemary.

Frank leaves behind his daughters, Patricia Landry, Katherine Kerstetter, and sons, Stephen and Frank Gonzales Jr. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Erika, Michael, Jill, Jeremy, Alyssa, Naomi, Thomas, Jessica and Alexandria and 16 great grandchildren, who will miss him dearly. Frank also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A visitation for Frank will be held Friday, January 3,2025 at 1:30pm at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm at 13747 Eastex Freeway,Houston, Texas, 77039. A committal service will occur Friday, January 3,2025 at 3:30pm at Brookside Memorial Park.
