It is with great sadness that the family of Frank Williams Moore III announces the end of his life’s journey on January 1, 2026. Frank endured the last nine years of his life with dementia, but he was so much more than his disease.
Born on May 12,1956, in Kenedy, Texas to Royston and Iva Moore. He was the youngest of four siblings, survived by brothers Royston (Mike) and James (Jack), their wives Margo and Peggy, sister Susan Cater, and several nieces and nephews. Frank leaves behind his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Moore and two sons, Frank Williams Moore IV and Daniel Ryan Moore and his wife Savannah. He also leaves behind three beautiful grandsons: Barrett Franklin Howle, Liam Parker Moore and Henry Gattis Moore.
His entry into the United States Marine Corps just after graduating from high school began a long and prestigious career in the aerospace industry. He had a love of aviation that brought him to serve in the Marine Corps, the Navy Reserves and the National Guard working on both rotary and fixed wing aircraft. Frank worked at NASA for 17 years and made contributions to the EVA Retriever program, Man Maneuvering Unit (MMU), along with various robotic projects for the Shuttle and International Space Station programs. He used his engineering skills to pursue a career in oil and gas research and development. He managed down hole tools research laboratories for
Baker Hughes Inc. He designed laboratories and instrumentation for obtaining instantaneous down hole tool data.
In his fifties, Frank was still serving in the Texas Army National Guard and was called to active duty in Operation Iraqi Freedom at 51 yeas old. His deep knowledge of military aircraft allowed him to make significant contributions during his deployment.
Beyond his intelligence, stamina, perseverance and industriousness, Frank was a loving father and husband. He served as an example of what a right and just human being can be. If you ask anyone that knew him, they will say, “You know Frank was just the nicest guy.”
