Cheri and I mourn with Mercedes, Adrianna, Sara, and Megan. While our loss isn't as personal, the impact of Frank's passing is felt deeply within our household. The Springett family were once next door neighbors of ours, which was terrific, because we had daughters of the same age. Through our daughters, we got to know Frank. And having had the opportunity to know Frank was a privilege. Simply put, there are few men in this world like Frank. He was brilliant...The smartest person I have ever met! But he was also funny, thoughtful, tender, and patient. Most of all, he was passionate about everything he did. Whether it was for work; his swim team responsibilities; training for competitions; in personal interactions; and especially with his family...Frank did not hold back. He gave everything his all!

My funniest memory of Frank was on one occasion, in which I saw him get fired up in a conversation. If you knew Frank, you will know that with his even keel personality, for him to get fired up about something never happens. Unless, that something is a conversation about our teenage daughters and their cellphone usage. I wish I could tell the complete story, but I basically had to convince Frank that our daughters having cell phones would not be the end of civilization and things were going to be okay!!! But even in that conversation, Frank's position was not that he was attempting to be a heavy-handed father. Rather, he was trying to be a protective and loving dad, who was concerned about what the pressures of the outside world may have on his kids. He was that kind of man!

You will be missed, Frank!

When I first started with NOV I was amazed at how anyone who mentioned Frank always talked about him in such high regard. I never knew any other leader in a company who had such universal admiration and respect. He was clearly a really good person and an inspiration for so many people. He will be missed by many.

There are so many great stories of Frank that it is almost impossible to start. He was principled, caring, wise, and so many other things. As a leader, one is often forced to make tough decisions and Frank led people through some very trying times. I think the esteem that everyone had for Frank is best summarized by a conversation I had with a salesman. Jerry was his name and he visited people through the entire organization. One day, when it was just the two of us, the conversation turned to Frank. Jerry told me that in all his dealings with the company, that he had never heard anyone say a negative thing about Frank. Jerry, who had been in the industry a long time, said that this was almost unheard of. In the end, I think that everyone knew that Frank would never ask more of you than he would ask of himself. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Frank was a special man. The number of people who he inspired is simply incredible. I’m certainly one of them. He was such a positive influence for me and our interactions forever changed me. He was a mentor — driven and motivating beyond description yet always so genuinely personable and caring. He believed in me and, even more so, encouraged me to believe in myself. Frank, we miss you, friend.

Very rarely will you ever come across an individual like Frank. He was the intersection of intelligence, creativity, personality, athleticism, and good looks. If you have a son, Frank is who you’d hope he would grow up to be. It’s hard to believe he is gone. His influence will continue to have an impact on the organizations and people that were lucky enough to experience him. Frank, we will miss you...

There are so many memories I have with Frank. I have known him since 2001. The main memory I have is how Frank was always going 110%. He had so much passion for everything.

Frank, you will be missed so much by me.
