

Fred W. Clinard passed away on March 11, 2013 at the age of 81. He is preceded in death by his son David , brother Bill Porter and sister Hilda Lakosky.. Fred is survived by his beloved wife Marlene of 57 years. Marlene fulfilled Fred’s life completely and their love for each other was a delight and inspiration for those who knew them. Fred is also survived by daughter Carol Montgomery and son-in-law Monty Montgomery, sisters Helen Beckham, Lavon Springer and brother Ralph Clinard. Of countless friends and acquaintances Fred cherished the special friendship of his brother-in-law Charles “Chuck” Beckham. Others surviving include nephews Michael, Rick, nieces Andrea, Korinne, Kristi, Susan,Marilyn,Linda Sue,and granddaughter Melyssa and great-granddaughter Robin.
Fred was born in Tennessee and loved the time he spent on the family farm. He attended the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering and spent his entire professional career with EXXON. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He also enjoyed designing and building things for use around the house and if he wasn’t tinkering at his workbench you could find him at his computer as he was in constant search for knowledge.
After retiring from EXXON Fred developed Parkinson’s disease and became determined that he would fight the good battle to keep this disease from overcoming him. He worked out daily at the Memorial Athletic Club as well as being a member of the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society.
Fred was a member of Houston’s First Baptist Church and was forever thankful for his many friends in the Catacombs Sunday School class as well as friends in his “Sunday Night Family” Bible study group. These groups of fellow believers were a constant source of strength, support and encouragement for Fred and Marlene
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fred Clinard Benevolence Fund of the Catacombs Class at Houston’s First Baptist Church. A memorial service for Fred will be held at Houston’s First Baptist Church at a later date.
A memorial service celebrating Fred’s life will be Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas77024
