

Fred was born January 22, 1944 in Houston, Texas. He was always described as a jokester who enjoyed life and lived life to its fullest. He attended Sam Houston State University, where he was active in theatre and a member of Phi Mu Alpha.
Fred enlisted in the Army in 1967 and was deployed to Vietnam, where he worked as a clerk by day, issuing purple hearts. At night he was a helicopter door gunner. Fred was awarded multiple medals of commendation, including a Bronze Star for his heroism while in Vietnam. When Fred returned to the states, he worked at the Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station in Arkansas. Fred received the Outstanding Soldier Award and was made the Honorary Mayor of Old San Antonio for a day. Fred was always very proud of his time in the Army.
As a civilian, Fred worked as a jeweler. He spent 12 years working with Zales Fine Jeweler’s Guild, opening markets and managing stores in Houston, Utah and Colorado, before moving on to other jewelry retailers. He received his GIA certification in Gemology. Fred was an avid gun collector, loved researching the history of old guns and the old west, and enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandchildren.
Fred is preceded in death by his father, Fred Dilton Jones, Sr., his mother, Metha Jones and his sister, Ota Renaye McIntosh. He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Marie and husband, Mike of Denver, CO; Step-daughter, Lesley Kristina and wife, Trina of Huntsville, TX; granddaughters, Sydney Isobel and Madison Grace, both of Denver, CO. He is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
