Freddie Louis Arthur

Freddie Louis Arthur, lovingly known as “Tulu” by his family and friends, was born on October 1, 1943 to Charlene McHenry and Abraham Arthur in Lovelady, TX. He was the fourth child of 14 siblings. He married his wife of 47 years, Glorita Livings Arthur, on October 17, 1970 in Houston, TX where they lived and raised their three children. He passed away surrounded by family on February 17, 2018 in Houston, TX at the age of 74.

He attended Lovelady High School before moving to Houston, TX. He then worked for Southern Pacific Railroad from 1966 to 1989 and Union Pacific Railroad from 1989 to 1999 before retiring. His hobbies included watching football, attending his children's and grandchildren's school events, going to drag races, and fishing and hunting in his earlier years. He also loved spending time with family and friends and having big get togethers at his house for birthdays and holidays. He was a member of Greater Pure Light Church where he served as an usher for a few years before becoming ill.

He was preceded in death by his mother Charlene McHenry, father Abraham Arthur, three brothers Donnell Arthur, Charlie Arthur, Howard Neal Arthur, and sister Earlie Mae Jones (Earl Jones).

He is survived by his wife Glorita, two sons Marcus (Melanie) and Corey, daughter Cassie (David), three grandchildren Derwyn, Marcus Jr., and Maliyah; Three sisters Callie (Edward), Pearlie, and Lucille; Six brothers Roosevelt Bryant, Winford, James (Denise, Kileen, TX), Johnnie B, Larry (Kileen, TX), and Herman (Maria), and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. at American Heritage Funeral Home located at 10710 Veteran's Memorial Drive in Houston TX 77038. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. inside of the American Heritage chapel, A funeral procession will follow to Forest Lawn Cemetery located at 8701 Almeda Genoa Road in Houston, Texas 77075. A dinner will be held after the burial at Aldine Family Hope Center located at 4700 Aldine Mail Route Road in Houston, TX 77039.
