Freddy George Iselt

Freddy was born on August 4, 1929 on his parent’s farm in Lincoln, Texas, the 2nd of five children. Pastor Durow baptized him on August 25, 1929 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebeau. Pastor Osthoff confirmed him on April 8, 1943 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas.

Freddy moved to Houston in 1948, working as a truck driver for Quality Feed. He worked there until January of 1953 when he was called to serve his country in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Division of the Army where he achieved the rank of Corporal. Upon his discharge in January of 1955 he and his wife Sydonia, whom he married on July 20 of 1952, began their family of three girls. Freddy worked hard providing for his family. Working as a sheet rocker with A.W. Patschke Drywall in the day and tending bar at the Esquire Ballroom at night. He was so proud of his service to his country that he helped organize the American Legion Post 654 in Spring Branch where he held many positions. He enjoyed barbequing and was known as the Pit Master. He also loved fishing and hunting. He had many friends and would get together for a night of playing 42.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Sydonia Patschke Iselt. His parents, Paul and Natalie (Sander) Iselt and Sister, Gladys Koslan and her husband Richard, brothers, Elmo Iselt and Melvin Iselt. Sister-in-law Irene Iselt. Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Alton Patschke and wife Marie, Arnold Patschke and wife LaVerne, Alice Proske and husband Raymond and Wilbert Patschke.

Freddy is survived by his three daughters, Shirley Hohle and husband Alan of Houston, Cynthia Mann of Waco and Verlene Metzler of Houston. Grandchildren Keith Julian and wife Lana of Temple, Rachel Brennan and husband Will of Houston, Eric Mann and wife Leana of Rockdale, Brian Metzler and Jessica of Houston, Sara Mann of Dallas, Samuel Hohle of Houston and Matthew Hohle of Houston. Great grandchildren, London, Mikala, Amber, Wesley, Hayden, Lane, Harper, Mason and Kason. Great Great grandchildren, Kaiden, Roman, and Elijah. Brother Wilbert Iselt, sisters-in-law Joyce Iselt and Terry Iselt. Brothers and Sisters-in-law Edmund Patschke and wife Alice, Monroe Patschke and wife Lorine, and Katheleen Patschke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Friends are invited to visitation with the family on Friday May 3, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Stateroom at Earthman Funeral Directors at Hunters Creek, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Funeral services will be held Saturday May 4, 2019 at 1:00pm (Reception and visitation from 11am to 1pm) in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors. Interment to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
