On April 6, 1959, Frederick Burks made his grand entrance into the world. He was born to parents Sarah Nell Milner-Kelly and Leborn Charles Burks. He was a very happy child, full of energy. He loved to talk which earned him the nickname "Radio" from his grandmother. He attended school in Ysleta Independent School district. He played basketball and ran track & field. He was a wonderful student and had a gift for drawing and designing buildings. He graduated from Ysleta High School in May, 1977.
After graduating high school, Frederick went on to work at Blair Hall Construction for many years. He loved being able to put his talent for drawing and design to work. After an injury, he changed career paths and went to school to become a long haul truck driver. In 2013, he started his own trucking company called AAG Trucking, LLC.
In 1994, he met Bridgett Hargis at the Fort Bliss Officers Club in El Paso, Texas. Both shared a love of sports, music, travel, family and each other. They were married in Las Cruces, New Mexico on July 28, 1995. They quickly added Alexander and started their family. On 04/26/1998, they had their first child Alexis.
In 1999, they moved to Houston, Texas where they continued to develop their lives together. On 09/07/2001, they had their second child Graeme. As their children grew up, they added camping and hiking to the list of things they loved to do. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to Kavion (born to Alexander in 2009).
On June 22, 2014, Frederick was involved in an accident that left him a quadriplegic. It was a tough time, but he worked hard at inpatient rehab followed by outpatient physical therapy. He had regained use of his hands, arms, and movement in his legs. He had plans and goals that he was working towards achieving. He and Bridgett had plans to buy a mobile home and travel around the country upon retiring.
He departed from this life too soon. He was preceded in rest by his father Leborn Charles Burks. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 23 years, Bridgett Hargis-Burks; 1 daughter Alexis; 2 sons Alexander and Graeme; 1 grandson Kavion; 4 brothers, Charles L. Burks (wife Vanessa Burks); Clyde C. Burks; Iris G. Burks; Bennett E. Burks; and 2 sisters, Linda D. Burks-Pabon (husband Pablo Pabon) and Sarah V.
