Gabriel Anthony Alcala

Gabriel Anthony Alcala, 65, of Houston, Texas, passed away on August 2, 2026. He was born December 9, 1960, in Houston, Texas, to Mary Magdalene Rosas Alcala’ and Henry Flores Alcala Jr. A man of steady devotion and quiet generosity, Anthony lived his Christian faith with sincerity—carrying a prayerful spirit that extended not only to those he loved, but also to strangers he met along the way.

Anthony worked first as a Limousine Chauffer and later as a Long Haul Truck Driver, roles that reflected his reliability and willingness to do what was needed. In the years after his father’s passing, he devoted himself to caring for his mother until her death, setting aside his own plans to ensure she was supported and never alone—an enduring testament to his love, loyalty, and sense of duty.

An avid fisherman with a patient confidence that seemed to outmatch the day’s conditions, Anthony had a gift for catching fish when others could not. Fishing was more than a pastime; it was where his calm focus and contentment shone. Aransas Pass became his happy place, a setting that suited his deep appreciation for simple peace and time near the water.

Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Henry F Alcala Jr.; his mother, Mary Magdalene Rosas Alcala’; his brother, Henry Alcala III; his sister, Lorraine Catherine Viskadurakis; his brother-in-law, Fanourious “Vis” Viskadurakis; and his nephew, Eric Lopez.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Ellen Alberty and her husband, Warren Alberty; their son, Christopher Matthew and his wife, Sheila, and their two boys, Jackson Warren and Henry Cruz Zavala. He is also survived by his niece, Sandi and Wade; their sons: Taylor and his wife, Mary, who have four children; Andrew and his wife, Ale, who have one child; and their daughter, Victoria and her husband, Paul, who have four children.

He is further survived by his niece, Rena Gills; her daughter, Christina and her husband, Tyler, who have two children, Harper and Hayes Henry; and Rena’s son, Brandon and his wife, Jenna Gills. He is also survived by his niece, Naomi Aune and her daughters, Trinity Hadek, Sophia, and Kiya Bauer; his nephew, Jonathon, and his daughter, Mia Viskadurakis; and his nephew, Peter Daniel and his wife, Olena”Virginia” Viskadurakis, and their four children, Olivia, Luke, Analee, and Dimitirious Viskadurakis.

A Memorial Service will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 BROADWAY ST, HOUSTON, TX 77087, on August 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
