Gail Andrews George, of Houston, Texas passed into eternal rest on April 9, 2021 after a two- year hard-fought battle against cancer. She was born to Lynette Andrews and Hugh Semper in San Fernando, Trinidad on July 15, 1969. Gail was raised in Point Fortin, Trinidad and Houston, Texas. She attended Point Fortin Junior Secondary School and Open Bible High School, graduating in 1986. At school, she took part in running track. At home, she liked collecting travel stamps and foreign money. Growing up, her best friends were Lisa Paul, Sherma Christopher and Sherene. Later in life, Diana, Victoria and Karol were added to that special group.
On February 20, 1992 Gail married her soulmate, Denzil Warren George at the Point Fortin Court House in Point Fortin, Trinidad. To this union two children were born, Aaron and Antonio. Gail earned her Degree of Applied Science in Culinary Arts on March 27, 2004 and then a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Management on June 18, 2011; both from the Art Institute of Houston. Gail’s personality helped her to achieve her success as an entrepreneur with the Blue Hibiscus Catering Company, which she successfully operated for 18 years. She was most comfortable in a one on one interaction, but was energized with family and activities. She even created an inviting space for conversations and had an optimistic perspective to life. Gail was sensitive to others, and avoided conflicts. She relied on clear, concrete information (very fact oriented), and was able to identify new solutions to problems, looking for future possibilities. She planned everything out (always focused on details), worked to stay ahead, using deadlines, dates and routines to manage life. She was very capable of multi-tasking; but did so with innovations and creativity, as she altered and created recipes. Gail definitely had a drive behind her creativity.
Besides the business, Gail’s favorite pursuits were researching and creating new recipes, traveling and spending time with family, whether that was watching football or whatever Denzil had on, riding her bike, going on hikings and bowling. Her favorite trips included Barcelona, Dubai, Sedona, St. Croix, St. Lucia, San Francisco, New York and San Antonio.
Community was an important endeavor. Grace Church played a major part in her life for over six years.
Left to cherish her memories are husband Denzil George, sons Aaron and Antonio and her brothers: Richard, Curtis, Raymond, and Sheldon.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039, on Friday, April 16, 2021. Visitation will be from 9:00- 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service beginning promptly at 11:00 a.m. and the burial will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
