

Geoffrey Saxon Galloway, age 74, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully January 14, 2015. Geoff was born January 14, 1941 in Rochester, New York and son of Herbert Elms Galloway and Lura Frances Saxon Galloway. He was a graduate of La Marque High School in La Marque, Texas in 1959, Geoff attended the University of Houston where he received a Bachelors in Music Education and Masters of Music in 1965. During and after graduating from college, he worked for Brook Mays Music/H&H Music managing some of the H&H Music stores as they developed in the Houston area. He also taught private trombone at San Jacinto Jr. College; played in the Ed Gerlach dance band; joined Denton Cooley’s famous “Heart Beat’s” and performed for Peter Fountain’s Houston concert and many Houston social fundraisers. He also played extra in the Houston Symphony and Gilbert and Sullivan productions. He married Charlotte Jean Galloway in 1964 and together they had two children, Jennifer and Melissa. In 1977 he became part owner and manager of South Texas Music and managed it for 20 years. He later returned to work with Brook Mays Music/H&H Music and continued his career in educational sales. He will be remembered most for his loving devotion to his family and nurturing hundreds of friendships over the years. Geoff was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his daughters, Melissa Galloway Banki and husband Russell Banki of Houston and Jennifer Galloway of Houston; grandchildren, Darion Williams and Larissa Banki; only one sister Kathe Wise; numerous cousins and relatives. Memorial service will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, February 8, officiated by Pastor Bruce Webb at Brookside Funeral Home Champions 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, Texas 77068.
