

On October 18, 1944, George Gamble was born to Dick and Ida Gamble in Navasota, Texas. He was raised in Navasota, where he attended AMT Elementary School and later graduated from George Washington Carver High School.
After graduation, George worked briefly at Texas A&M University before proudly enlisting in the United States Navy on August 17, 1965. He honorably served in the Vietnam War. He completed his active duty service in August 1969; however, he continued his service in the Naval Reserve for two additional years.
Following his military service, George began a dedicated career with Metro Transit Authority as a Bus Operator, where he worked faithfully for over 25 years before taking early retirement. George was an entrepreneur; he owned several businesses, including a trucking company, an arcade/pool hall, a limousine service, and owned several rental properties.
George was known for his joyful spirit and warm personality. He had a smile that could light up a room and a heart full of kindness. He deeply loved his son and cherished his entire family. In his free time, George enjoyed shooting pool and was exceptionally skilled, competing in numerous tournaments and winning trophies. He also had a passion for cars, especially his prized red Corvettes.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Ida Gamble; his sisters, Edna Lyons, Bertha Young, Jimmie Ranson, Pearlie Love, and Pearline Dorsey; and his brothers, Dick Gamble Jr., Ira Gamble, and James Gamble.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his son, Donovan Gamble; his grandsons, Devan Gamble, Dylan Gamble, and De’Jion Blalark; his granddaughters, Kaylin Blalark, Garrian Gamble, and Jordan Blalark; his great-grandsons, Dyce Gamble and Amir Blalark; his great-granddaughters, Cru Blalark and Hendrix Blalark; one sister, Irene Sampson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends and neighbors.
