

George Knaub of Richmond, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 25th 2023 at the age of 92 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 25, 1930 in Worden, Montana where he grew up. The family farmed in Montana growing sugar beets.
He was baptized at Bethlehem Congregational Church in Worden on February 22, 1931. He was confirmed at Congregational Church of Worden, Montana on April 4, 1946. He graduated from Huntley Project High School on June 1, 1949.
He served in the military U.S. Navy – Alameda CA, Atsugi Japan and in San Diego California from February 6, 1951 until January 31, 1955. He then went on to work for Carter Oil which became Exxon until he retired August 1, 1986. He was transferred from Billings, Montana by Humble Oil to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1962 and was there until 1966. He was then transferred to Houston Texas in 1966 and would remain in the area until retirement.
He was actively involved in Salem Lutheran Church as an usher and teller and member of the Church Council. He and Carole would travel and cruise to many places in retirement Denmark, Norway, Russia, Caribbean and all over the United States. He loved to visit family and friends. He loved to plant flowers and work in the yard and would always have vegetables growing someplace. He very much enjoyed spending time with his family and granddaughter Christina and attending her activities.
He is preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Marie Knaub, his sisters Marie, Katherine, Pauline, Mollie, Emma, Esther and Amelia and his brothers John, Phillip Jr. Alexander, Jacob and Henry.
He is survived by his wife Carole Anderson Knaub of Richmond, TX, daughter Rochelle Marie Wiley (Larry) of New Ulm, TX, son Kevin Lee Knaub of Houston, TX, Granddaughter Christina Nichole Sherer (Josh) of Katy, TX, and great-granddaughter Isabella Nichole Sherer and numerous nieces and nephews.
George and Carole were married at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Dagmar, Montana on April 2, 1960. They were married for 63 years.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Sugar Land and Houston Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend Services at New Hope Lutheran Church 1424 FM 1092, Missouri City, TX 77459 on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 11:00am. Visitation will begin at 10:00am at the New Hope Lutheran Church. Interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038 at 2:15pm.
