Born on May 30th, 1945, in Thalavady, Kerala State, India, George Mathew was the beloved son of the late T.M. George and the late Aleykutty George. He was the eldest of ten siblings. He was a devoted husband to the late Lillykutty Mathew and a loving father to George and Lisa. He also leaves behind two beautiful grandchildren, Ella and Emerie.
George Mathew left college to join the Indian Air Force where he served as mechanic. He later met a beautiful nurse, got married, and immigrated to America. He and our mother began a life in Houston. He worked at Coca-Cola as a truck mechanic, went to technical school, and later owned and ran his very own Auto Repair Shop: George’s Automotive.
He had a passion for helping people. He was extremely generous and never complained about how tired he was or anything for that matter. He loved gardening and was proud of his harvest especially vegetables from his home country of India. He was quite the architect and builder. He independently built an extension to our house and a large patio with a swing for our mother. He loved his family and had a deep sense of pride and compassion. His legacy is one of integrity, resilience, and love.
George Mathew is survived by his children: George, Lisa, Sandy; his grandchildren: Ella and Emerie; and his siblings: George Thomas(deceased), Molly Devassy, Jolly James, Aleyamma Joseph, Shaji George and Alex George (three siblings passed at a young age)
A funeral service will be held on July 18th, 2025, at 2pm at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugarland.
We will miss him dearly but will find comfort that he is with our Lord and his beloved wife, Lillykutty.
